Kehinde Wiley “Black Light” Opens Thursday at Deitch Gallery

August 31, 2009

Artist Kehinde Wiley will open his latest show “Black Light” at New York City’s Deitch Projects this coming Thursday September 3rd. Straying from his usual work, paintings depicting African American urban males against intricately patterned backgrounds, he will present 17 photographs from his new book of the same name “Black Light” recently released through PowerHouse Books. These photos are usually Wiley’s starting reference point for his paintings, and now we are offered a glimpse of his subjects. The Ballast will also have opening night coverage for those of you who can’t make it, so check back Friday.
