Ryan McGinness at Deitch Projects

The new McGinness show at Deitch is pretty wild. The massive canvases with hundreds of neon and brightly colored layers screen printed over each other make this pictogram mess, but in a way that you love to stare at it. Definitely worth a look. A few shots below. McGinness’ sculptures of cut, melted and screen printed plastic, were quite peculiar in their forms. I found the ‘paintings’ much more worthy of my time, but none the less a nice departure from his 2-D work while still keeping a strong sense of graphic sharpness.
