Butter Sculptor Dies at 81

June 29, 2011

Using tons of U.S. Grade AA salted butter, Norma Lyon carved out a name for herself. She rose to fame after presenting the works at the Iowa State Fair which then led to her presenting sculptures at other state fairs across the Midwest.

Her most well recognized work was the butter cow, giving her the nickname “the butter cow lady”, but her work expanded to encompass a rendition of The Last Supper and even President Barack Obama.

Norma Lyon passed away in Iowa on Sunday.
